Interviews are a way of an employer finding out more about you aren’t they? Yes they are, but they’re not just a one way process. Just as the company is trying to find out if you are the right person for the job, you should be trying to ensure that they are the right company for you. If you’re going to get the right role for you at the right company, that means you’re going to have to start asking more questions in your interview. Having a candidate that asks relevant and insightful questions is so refreshing for an interviewer and it is a key way to differentiate yourselves from other candidates.

From the company’s point of view, it makes you a very attractive hire as recruitment can be a time consuming and expensive process and a strong and stable workforce is always something to strive for. This is the number one question you can ask in an interview and you should ask it at the very end of any interview. By asking this at the very end, you are in effect checking that you haven’t missed anything in the interview and if you have, you can have a second chance of explaining it.
